The Kids Are All Right: Kids as Heroes in Horror

PODENSTEIN'S LAB
It’s up! Our minicast about KIDS IN HORROR!!

Our rules:
1. Tweeners or younger
2. Not as victims, but as the protagonists
3. They win. 🙂

Fairy tales usually involve children, so we share our favorite movies involving the junior crew taking care of bidness.
Our faves?

SHELBY –

THE WITCHES

SUPER 8

J.E. –

THE GATE

MONSTER HOUSE

MARK –

LOST BOYS

TURBO KID

Some suggestions that we DIDN’T go over:

Mama

Let the Right One In / Let Me In

Lord of the Flies

Goonies

Pan’s Labyrinth

The Gate

The Sixth Sense

The Hole

Stranger Things (of course!!)

Stand By Me

Firestarter

Super 8 (borderline age-wise on this one)

Coraline (yeah, it’s cutesy, but it’s also creepy af)

The Monster

And, although she was not “THE” hero of this movie, she still survived being face-hugged by alien inseminators before being spit-glued to a wall.  Yup. I’m talking about “Aliens,” and everybody’s favorite survivor, Newt. She’s a fighter, a hider, a hoarder, and a precious little hero. So Imma throw her in this list and take the slings and arrows of outrageous disagreement, cuz I can. 🙂

Get yourself an earful of horrifically cheerful, right here:
